The healing power of play
Play not only helps children and young people in their social, physical and cognitive development; it also has a therapeutic value. While talking therapies might be appropriate for adults, children often don't have the emotional literacy to talk about their feelings and worries. Play is their natural way of expressing themselves and working through their issues.

The Peacock
The peacock is a symbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we show our true colours.
In Hinduism, the Peacock is associated with Lakshmi who represents patience and kindness.
The peacock spirit animal offers lessons about self-love, honour, integrity and the importance of facing life’s challenges, as well as the unknown, with courage and confidence.
The peacock is not shy about displaying its beauty. This metaphor of not only being proud of your strengths and talents but also sharing them with others resonates with me and how I want to be as a practitioner. It also reflects the play therapy process, whereby we enable our clients to become confident in and trust their own abilities.
